Last night Nathan Tyson, coming on as a sub, scored a late winner to beat Championship strugglers Ipswich Town 2-1.
The game signalled the end of Paul Jewell’s reign as Ipswich boss, today he left the club by mutual agreement. Ironically, Paul Jewell’s last game in charge of Derby was a defeat to Ipswich Town!
Back on to Tyson-
He’s had a bit of a stop start beginning to this campaign. It started well with goals against Sheffield Wednesday and Scunthorpe but then he fell out of favour after the arrival of £1.2million signing Conor Sammon.
Maybe now he’s shown Nigel Clough enough to earn a start for the visit to Peterborough on Saturday. In the Blackburn game, Tyson came on as a sub and made a real impact to the Rams’ attacking play. Last night, he came on and scored the winner. Saturday could see Jamie Ward return to the squad (probably a sub), but I’d still hope Clough starts with Tyson. Conor Sammon should partner him, after a battling performance yesterday.
Many fans dislike him, understandably for what he did some time ago but he’s a Ram now. They’ve got to understand what a difficult campaign, with injuries, he had last season. Forget that, move on. I’m backing him to grab another goal at the weekend, with the Rams winning 2-0, quite an early prediction I know!
