Here’s the lowdown of transfer stories involving The Rams today.
The Coventry defender who is thought be a target to replace Shackell at Pride Park appears to be joining The Rams’ Championship rivals Cardiff City. The Welsh club tabled a £750,000 bid for the 25-year-old who has one year left on his contract with the Sky Blues and looks increasingly unlikely to sign an extension this summer at Coventry. Leeds were also interested but Cardiff City look set to win the race for the Coventry City star.
Kelvin Mellor may opt to stay at Crewe despite interest from Derby County, BBC Radio Stoke say. The Rams have offered the flexible defender a three-year contract.
Burton Albion are in talks with Nigel Clough about re-signing goalkeeper Ross Atkins on loan. he spent the whole of last season on loan at the Brewers, playing 48 games. Burton manager Gary Rowett said “I have spoken to Nigel. There is an opportunity there and I would like to try to do something. But things are not finalised so we will see how that progresses.” The Rams currently have Frank Fielding, Adam Legzdins, Saul Deeney and Ross Atkins in the goalkeeper position.
Derby have been linked with Limerick (Irish 2nd tier) right mid/striker Rory Gaffney. http://foot.ie/threads/168726-derby-county-to-sign-gaffney
