Birmingham Away

On Saturday the Rams face a tough trip to Birmingham City. The Blues have only lost once in the league on home soil and that defeat came last week to Nottingham Forest (their first loss in 15 matches!). In the last game between the Rams and the Blues, on the first day of this season, Derby ran out 2-1 winners.

Birmingham last five games- lost, won, drew, drew, won,
Derby last five games- lost, lost, lost, drew, lost.
League standings-
Birmingham- 5th. Goal Difference- +21. Points- 54.
Derby- 15th. Goal Difference- -9. Points- 42.

This week Chris Hughton has announced three new signings – Peter Ramage (loan), Caleb Forlan (free agent) and Cian Hughton (free agent).

Jamie Ward is a major doubt for the Rams after returning early from international duty with Northern Ireland. Craig Bryson is also a doubt.

Manager Nigel Clough-“They lost for the first time in 15 games last week; so we hope it is one of those scenarios where they lost one, so they might lose two. The sort of run they put together shows what a strong, solid side they are; they have got experienced players as well, so it will be another tough game for us.”

My Team V Birmingham (assuming Ward and Bryson are injured)-
Fielding
Naylor, Barker, Shackell, Roberts.
Green, Hendrick, Bailey, B.Davies.
Tyson, S.Davies.
Subs- Legzdins, Buxton, Carroll, Robinson, Ball.

My Prediction-
Unfortunately I think the Blues will be fired up to back to winning ways and win 2-0. Derby have hardly scored any goals recently and I hope they come on Saturday but with Jamie Ward likely to be out and not much creativity from midfield recently it doesn’t look hopeful. Let’s hope all that changes and Birmingham slip up again.
