Looking ahead to Boxing Day’s game with Leeds United

On Saturday the Rams lost to Paul Jewell’s Ipswich side to a controversial goal scored by Keith Andrews. Ipswich scored their goal early in the second half, Andrews headed towards the Derby goal and James Bailey appeared to clear off the line but 15 seconds later the Referee ,Mr Webb, ran over to his linesman and awarded a goal to the London side. Surely if the linesman thought it was a goal he would of put his flag up when he thought the ball went over the line ? The standard of refereeing this season has been quite poor, it has to be said. It’s extremely frustrating that the players have played on and then the referee awards a goal. Replays shown it did go over the line but the way it was awarded was terrible refereeing. However there was Positives from the defeat – Brayford, Tyson and Robinson all made their returns from injury.

Last season Derby County beat Leeds twice, both 2-1 at Elland Road and Pride Park. Leeds are currently 6th in the Championship table meanwhile The Rams remain in the bottom half in 16th place. Reading beat Leeds on Saturday to give the Leeds their 7th loss of the season. The boxing day encounter will certainly be a tough one. Nathan Tyson, Theo Robinson and John Brayford are all expected to retain the places in the Derby County Squad after returning from injuries. Jeff Hendrick was substituted because of Injury in the final minute of Saturday’s match and DCFC are waiting to discover the full extent of the ankle injury.

Prediction-
I predict a tight game but I think Leeds will come out on top with a 2-1 win but I certainly wouldn’t bet against Derby in this fixture, now especially we are boosted by more players returning from injury. Let’s hope 3 points come our way, Come on You Rams !
