Derby County came from behind to win 2-1 against Bristol City at Pride Park. Derby’s Stephen Pearson ,who is on loan at Bristol, was unable to play due to the terms of his loan deal. Nigel Clough again opted for the 4-5-1 formation at home, in my view you shouldn’t play so defensive at home. Here is my Report on the match.
Derby started well in the first half but didn’t really give Ex-England international any difficult saves to make. Bristol City had a couple of shots at goal forcing Rams keeper Frank Fielding into saves. Tamas Priskin didn’t have a good first half so at half time Callum ball replaced him.Onto the second half the Bristol goal came quite early on 57 minutes. Albert Adomah played Martyn Woolford in behind the Rams back 4 and the City winger slotted the ball into Derby’s goal. It didn’t take the Rams long to hit back, Jamie ward made an excellent run down the left hand side ,beating the City defence, to cross the ball to the back post where Craig Bryson tapped the ball home to level the game and score his fourth of the season. The half time substitution from Derby proved crucial in the Rams victory. Academy graduate Callum Ball replaced On loan Ipswich striker Priskin, Ball put himself about, got stuck in and played well. On 72 minutes it was Ball ,scoring his first professionally goal, who put Derby in the lead. Callum Ball fired the ball from inside the box past David James, who should of done better. The Rams eventually saw the game out and the score ended 2-1 with the Rams beating Bristol City for the first time since 2009.

Overall the team’s performance was good and it showed good spirit from coming behind and going on to win. Callum ball did really well when coming on, Paul Green was another who played well, Craig Bryson was another stand out performer but Jamie Ward played excellent.

Bywater is currently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and is due back at Derby next week. Wednesday boss Gary Megson is interested in signing Bywater on a permanent basis.
Derby are away to Ipswich and Priskin is ineligible due to the terms of his loan. Derby could have Theo Robinson available for selection after injury. Let’s hope Derby can keep the pressure piling on Ipswich boss Paul Jewell as his side are 20th despite beating Barnsley 5-3 today. SAT 17th DEC IPSWICH V RAMS
