Derby County 0-1 Brighton

Another defeat which makes it 5 losses in a row.

After a couple of early Derby chances Brighton scored on 13 minutes through Craig Makail Smith smashing the ball into the back of the goal from the edge of the penalty area. Derby did have a few more chances in the first half but were unable to score. Brighton was not fantastic but they kept the ball well and frustrated The Rams. Derby County’s performance was not good- wasted chances and again a lack of creativity in the middle of the park.  It got worse when 15 year old Mason Bennett skied a chance to score in the closing moments of the game.

Derby County team: Fielding, Green, Barker, Shackell, Roberts, B Davies (Bennett 72), Bailey, Hendrick, Bryson, Ward, Priskin (Ball 68).Subs Not Used: Legzdins, O’Brien, Buxton.Booked: Bryson, Priskin

Brighton & Hove Albion team: Ankergren, Greer, Dunk, Hoskins (Paynter 83), Navarro, Barnes (Noone 57), Mackail-Smith, Calderon (El-Abd 49), Harley, Vincelot, Bridcutt.Subs Not Used: Brezovon, Lua Lua.Booked: Calderon, El-Abd Goals: Mackail-Smith (13)

Again I have to question Clough’s team selection, 4-5-1 at home! That’s too much of a negative formation at home. Priskin was quite poor playing the lone role up front but when Callum Ball came on he did well. I think Ball deserves a chance to start a game in the first team. Maguire, Croft and Cywka again left out of the squad.

League position-  16th 24 points. 5 points off the  play offs and 4 points ahead of the drop zone.
